January 24, 1939 - February 8, 2010

Carl Dean Butler, 71, of Marshall, Illinois passed away at 4:25 p.m. Monday, February 8, 2010 at Carle Hospital in Urbana, Illinois. He was a retired farmer and self-employed mechanic.

He was born January 24, 1939 in Paris, Illinois, the son of the late William Edward and Mary Pearl (Fletcher) Butler. He married Joyce Kay Wilhoit in Marshall, Illinois. She preceded him in death January 24, 2008.

Survivors include three sons, Carl E. Butler of Paris, Illinois, Mark E. Smith of Springfield, Illinois, and W.D. (Rae Anne) Smith of Paris, Illinois; a sister, Margaret Phillips of Paris, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Olyvia, Ryan, and Grace Bradford, Faith Smith, Jason Butler, Amanda Butler, and Stevie Butler; and a dear friend and companion, Vanetta "Joyce" Peterson of Paris, Illinois. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Butler.

For those who wish, the family suggests that memorials be made to Antioch Faith Outreach Church of Paris.

Cremation is scheduled. All services will be private. Templeton Funeral Home of Paris is in charge of arrangements.
