February 27, 1935 - February 1, 2010

John "Eugene" Garner, 74, of Paris, Illinois, formerly of Brocton, Illinois passed away at 8:47 p.m. EST Monday, February 1, 2010 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana. He was a retired self-employed truck driver and previously worked twenty years at Illinois Cereal Mills of Paris.

He was born February 27, 1935 in Edgar County, Illinois, the son of the late Samuel and Arminta (Williams) Garner. He married Mary Catherine Garner on November 18, 1952 in East St. Louis, Illinois. She preceded him in death December 10, 2009.

Survivors include two sons, Michael (Lisa) Garner and Steve Garner both of Paris, Illinois; a daughter, Cathy Landsaw of Paris, Illinois; three brothers, Russell Garner of Terre Haute, Indiana, Dean Garner of Brazil, Indiana, and Herb Garner of Paris, Illinois; two sisters, Dorothy Miller of Marshall, Illinois and Katherine Nickles of Paris, Illinois; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Garner, and a daughter, Debbie Garner.

For those who wish, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Edgar County Diabetic Association.

Cremation is scheduled. The family hosted a memorial reception Friday. February 5, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Community room of the Edgar County Highrise Building.
