Obituary

Mary Martha Hall, 86, of Paris, Illinois passed away at 4:03 a.m. EDT Friday, July 16, 2010 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana. She was retired after forty-eight years as owner of the former Mary Sue Tot Shop of Paris.

She was born September 2, 1923 in Paris, Illinois, the daughter of the late Robert and Pearl (Blackburn) Scott. She married Floyd Phillips Hall on December 19, 1944 in Melbourne, Florida. He preceded her in death August 1, 2007.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Sue (Rev. Frank) Gready of Lake Suzy, Florida and Sandra Louise (Charles) Davis of Paris, Illinois; a brother-in-law, Harold Hall Sr. of Paris, Illinois; four grandchildren, David (Sara) Milam of Austin, Texas, Suzannah (Toby) Bartos of Springfield, Illinois, Janah (Joe) Freese of Champaign, Illinois, and Skylar Sudduth of Paris, Illinois; five great-grandchildren; four nephews, Gary Hall, Harold Hall Jr., Billy Hall, and Floyd Hall; and one niece, Barbara Hall. She was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Matthew Milam.

Mary Martha loved art and pursued an art major at Indiana State University where she was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. She was an extremely talented artist, designing her own clothes and also painting. Sewing was a hobby for her, too. Mary Martha was passionate about the water. She treasured time spent on the lake, boating and water-skiing. She and Floyd also had a fondness for Florida, taking family vacations there for years. She loved the beach. Mary Martha also enjoyed traveling and she and Floyd took many trips together. She was devoted to her 2 cats, and had taken in and fostered many stray animals over the years. She was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church of Paris, and an honorary member of the Delta Phi Eta, Kappa Pi, and Orchisis Sororities. She was also a member of the Elks club and Legion Auxiliary, as well as a PTA member and room mother. Mary Martha was never happier than when surrounded by her family.

For those who wish, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Presbyterian Church of Paris.
