Glen Edwin “Sonny” Myers, 85, of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 8:50 a.m. Monday, March 12, 2018, at Calhoun Nursing & Rehab in Hardin, Illinois. He was a retired grain and cattle farmer.

He was born June 23, 1932, in Paris, the son of the late Homer and Thelma (Poole) Myers. He married Ellen “Sharon” Miller on August 24, 1967, at Paris Christian Church. She preceded him in death in May 2012.

Survivors include two children, Crystal (Bob) Nance of Hardin, and Clint (Tammy) Myers of Paris; five grandchildren, B.J. (Nicole) Nance and Ashley (Billy) Wilson both of Hardin, and Miranda, Carson, and Cole Myers all of Paris; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn Busby.

Mr. Myers was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Paris Christian Church. He was a Fifty-Year Member of Stratton Lodge #408 Ancient Free & Accepted Masons, a member of AASR Valley of Danville, Ansar Shrine Temple, and Edgar County Shrine Club. Sonny was a lifelong cattle farmer who dearly loved his family, his livestock, and his farm.

Graveside services were conducted at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at Edgar Cemetery, with Pastor Chris White officiating. Military rites were conducted by American Legion Post #211. Templeton Funeral Home of Paris was in charge of arrangements.
