Melinda Kay Armentrout, 62, of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 8:13 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at her residence. She retired in 2016 after twenty-nine years in the billing office of Paris Community Hospital.

She was born January 17, 1956, in Paris, the daughter of the late Leonard A. and Eva Darlene (Marrs) Dickson.

Survivors include her mother, Darlene Dickson of Paris; a son, Brad (Brandi) Ford of Paris, and a step-daughter, Bethany Deifenbaugh of Roanoke, Virginia; three sisters, Cindy (John) McGinness of Brocton, Illinois, Amanda (Mark) Clapp of Oakland, Illinois, and Teresa (Joe) Blake of Brocton; a brother, Mark (Pam) Dickson of Brocton; four grandchildren, Cheylynn Ford (Blake Tucker) of Paris, Chancey Ford (Anthony Moore) of Paris, Sefton Ford of Paris, and Grant Armentrout of Paris; a great-grandson, Trevor Leeroy Tucker of Paris; two sisters-in-law, Glenda (Dodge) Rader and Elaine Miller both of Virginia; her mother-in-law, Helen Armentrout of Virginia; good friend, Ova Lindsey of Paris; as well as several step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father; two sons, Rory E. Ford and Carlton Z. Armentrout; her friend and former spouse William C. Armentrout; a step-daughter, Christina D. Armentrout; and her father-in-law, Rev. Lewis C. Armentrout.

Mrs. Armentrout was a 1974 graduate of Oakland High School. She was a Lifetime Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3601 Auxiliary. She was a talented pool player, and competed as part of an APA team for a number of years. She was also an avid mushroom hunter and enjoyed bowling, oil painting, crocheting, cards, Dominoes, and any other game she played while spending time with her family.

Services celebrating her life were conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at Templeton Funeral Home in Paris. Pastor Mark Smith officiated, and music was provided by Julia North and Ova Lindsey, vocalists. Burial followed in Embarrass Cemetery near Redmon, Illinois. Casket bearers were T. J. Blake, Jared and Nick Clapp, Tony Dickson, Brandon Ford, Jonathan Hill, Anthony Moore, and Blake Tucker. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Templeton Funeral Home in Paris. A VFW Auxiliary Memorial Service was conducted at 3:30 p.m. prior to visitation Monday at the funeral home.
